Dr. Revathi Balaji (Reva)

MBBS MRCGP(UK) FRACGP MRCOG DFFP

Reva was born in South India and went to medical college in Madurai. After completing her degree, she worked locally for four years in medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology and anaesthetics before she migrated to the UK in 1990.

Reva initially trained and worked as a specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology and was heavily involved in the teaching of both medical students and doctors. She then moved track to general practice, obtaining her FRCGP and DFFP in the UK. Once again, Reva was heavily involved in the teaching of obstetrics and gynaecology in the general practice setting. Reva loves medicine and getting to the bottom of a problem, using her diagnostic skills and initiating treatment as she had previously done at the specialist level. She likes to use her communication skills, establishing good rapport and trust with patients and she regards this as one of her greatest strengths.

Reva has a passion for preventing illness as well as treating current problems and gives people hope about tomorrow. Reva currently works on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and occasionally on Sundays.

Outside medicine, Reva loves gardening and cooking, especially Indian and South Indian recipes. She also enjoys watching comedy films and sitcoms.
